At Daniel's apartment, Maggie is baking cookies while Parker, Melanie and Daniel decorate the tree. Daniel is pleased that Melanie is home. Melanie tells him she put her application into the hospital. Daniel and Maggie both warn her to stay out of Theresa's orbit. Theresa has caused too much trouble for both Daniel, Jen and JJ. Melanie agrees.
Melanie asks Parker to put her presents under the tree. Parker is happy to oblige. Maggie wonders how Melanie got her shopping done so fast when she just arrived in Salem. Maggie learns that Daniel bought the presents including his own.
Later, Nicole stops by and leaves presents for Daniel and Parker. She puts them under the tree and notices that Melanie has gotten the same gift she got for Daniel. Daniel tells her it is a scarf that he bought for Melanie to give to him. Nicole is appalled and wants to take back her gift. Daniel tells her to stop. He has a solution. He opens Nicole's gift and tells her it is not the same scarf. Nicole is relieved. She adjusts the scarf on Daniel's neck. Sexual tension builds between them and a kiss begins.
