Daniel is at Eric's apartment. He wants to talk to him about his rekindled friendship with Nicole. Eric wonders if there is more than friendship between Daniel and Nicole. Daniel wants to know if there is more than friendship between Daniel and Nicole. Daniel would not want to jeopardize his friendship with Eric if he still has a future with Nicole. Eric thanks him for being honest with him. He assures Daniel that he has no plans of a future with Nicole.
When Daniel arrives home, he is surprised to see Melanie in his living room. He hugs her and is thrilled that she is there. Nicole excuses herself and leaves so that Daniel and Melanie can catch up. Melanie starts in on Nicole, but Daniel squashes her comments. He tells her that Nicole is back in his life and she will respect that. The conversation turns to why Melanie has come home. Daniel asks her if she is in trouble. Melanie skirts the issue, but Daniel senses she has returned to Salem because she is in trouble.
Later at the pub, Daniel is with Nicole. He knows that Melanie probably gave her a hard time. Daniel assures her that he set her straight.
