Daniel kisses Jennifer. She believes they can work things out. Daniel breaks away from the kiss and tells her that things have changed. They need to give each other space. Jennifer pleads that she loves Daniel. Daniel tells her that he cannot be with someone who does not believe in him. He asks her to leave and to leave behind her key to his apartment.
Later, at Daniel's office at the hospital, JJ stops by excited that he did well on his exams. Daniel is happy for him. JJ is excited Daniel will be at his graduation dinner. Daniel tells him that his mother and him are taking a break. Daniel assures JJ that he can come talk to him anytime. JJ is disappointed at the turn of events and quickly shakes Daniel's hand and leaves.
Daniel looks out the window, trying to pull himself together for his new patient. He answers the office door and meets Eve Baron. Daniel tells her that pending her test results, he thinks surgery will help her. Daniel welcomes her to Salem. Eve remarks that she lived in Salem before. She also remarks that she has found the right doctor.
