Daniel calls Roman to tell him that he believes Eric and Nicole are in his basement. Roman is on his way. Daniel sets off for the basement with his medical bag in hand. When he reaches the door, it is indeed locked. Daniel calls out for Eric. Eric finally calls out. Daniel breaks down the door with an axe. He checks on Nicole. She is still alive. Daniel picks her up and takes her out of the gas filled room. The Salem police arrive and carry Eric out. Daniel gets Nicole to wake up. He tells her to stay with him, but she is drifting back into unconsciousness.
At the hospital, Daniel issues orders to get Eric and Nicole stable. Hope arrives. She questions Daniel. Daniel says not now, his main priority is Nicole and Eric.
Daniel tends to Nicole. She is worried about Eric. Daniel tells her another doctor is with Eric getting him stable. Nicole tells Hope, the man that poisoned Eric was the same one who tried to kill them. Hope goes to check on Eric. Daniel tells Nicole how scared and worried he was about her. Nicole jokes "she's tough". Daniel reassures Nicole and tells her to get some rest. Daniel goes to check on Eric.
Later, Hope and Daniel talk. Daniel tells Hope that coming this close to dying, it will effect Eric and Nicole for a very long time.
