At Daniel's apartment, Nicole and Daniel talk about Eric. Daniel is glad Nicole is covering Eric's story for the TV station. Daniel asks Nicole to partner with him in clearing Eric's name. Nicole, still hurt from Eric's poor treatment towards her, balks at that idea. When she finds out Eric is coming over to meet with Daniel, Nicole bolts from the apartment to avoid seeing Eric.
When Eric arrives, Daniel approaches him about clearing his name. It would involve more intense testing. Eric insists that would not be a problem. But, Eric questions why Daniel is helping him. If Daniel is only helping him because he is trying to make amends for his involvement with Theresa, Eric will not accept his help. Daniel recoils at Eric's words.
Later, Daniel is on the phone with the hospital when Nicole arrives home. She sees Eric and promptly tells him she is glad he is still here. She tells Eric that she will never make the mistake of trying to help him again.
