Daniel chases Nicole through the town square. She runs up the staircase and Daniel calls to her. When she turns she has a scalpel in her hand and tells him to stop. Daniel halts. He tries to talk her out of committing suicide. Nobody wants to see her hurt herself. Nicole rages on about losing her two babies and then losing Daniel too. Daniel pleads with her to drop the scalpel. Nicole drops the scalpel and tries to hurl herself over the ledge. Daniel and Rafe pull her away from the ledge. She is inconsolable.
At the hospital, EJ reviews the medical records on his son's death. He realizes that no one was at fault, but he lashes out at Daniel with a vengeful tone. Daniel admits being a part of the DNA switch and tells EJ he can do what ever he wants. EJ has a change of heart. He remembers how Daniel saved his life and helped his son. He gives Daniel a pass on this one, but threatens him not to cross his path in the future.
