Daniel receives a phone call from Jennifer. She was able to set up the clinical trial for him today. Maggie arrives and learns the news. She is deeply concerned that Daniel is rushing this procedure. Daniel tells her that his mind is made up. He wants to be a surgeon again. Maggie leaves to find Jennifer. She wants Jennifer to talk Daniel out of this. Maggie finds Jennifer, but she is unable to convince her to stop Daniel. Maggie bluntly tells Jennifer to butt out of Daniel's life.
Before Daniel leaves for the hospital, Nicole stops by. She offers a heartfelt apology. Daniel accepts it.
Maggie decides to make one final attempt at stopping Daniel. At the hospital, Daniel tells Maggie he knows the risks and he wants to do whatever he can to be a surgeon again. His mind is made up. Jennifer is with him when he meets with Dr. Lewis for his injection.
