At Daniel's apartment, Daniel and Maggie wait for Melanie's return. When she arrives she sadly tells them that she will be leaving Salem and going to Spain to visit her Mom. Daniel tells her that he will miss her. His conversation gets interrupted when Brady arrives. Daniel leaves to give them time to talk. When Daniel returns home, an emotional goodbye ensues. With tears flowing, Daniel tells Melanie he loves her. Melanie leaves and Daniel lovingly places her picture on the fireplace mantel. He hears a knock at the door and finds EJ wanting to speak to Melanie. Daniel tells him that he is too late.
