At Daniel's apartment he tries to concentrate but his argument with Jennifer replays in his mind. He stands up and looks at her picture and then sees Melanie's picture. He decides to call Melanie. When he brings up Gabi's name, Melanie cuts the call short and tells Daniel he will see him soon.
Rafe stops by to see Daniel. Rafe tells Daniel about Gabi's confession about kidnapping Melanie. He tells Daniel that Nick was blackmailing Gabi. He also tells Daniel that Gabi told Melanie shortly before she decided to leave town. Daniel now understands why Melanie was upset to hear Gabi's name on the phone call. Rafe also admits that Gabi told him about her part in Melanie's kidnapping a while ago. He advised Gabi to keep quiet about it and he would too. Daniel is shocked to learn that Rafe, his friend, would keep this from him. Daniel realizes that Melanie left town because she couldn't stand being near Gabi in Salem. Daniel's friendship with Rafe deteriorates quickly. Daniel does not want to continue his discussion with Rafe. Rafe leaves. Daniel needs to talk with Melanie. When Daniel calls Melanie back, he wishes she would have confided in him for support.
