Jennifer is at Daniel's apartment. She pressures him to tell her what is going on between him and Nicole. Daniel tells her he is waiting for a phone call for it to be over and then he will update her. A knock comes at the door. Abe and Maxine arrive for their luncheon. Unfortunately, Jen & Daniel forgot to pick up the salmon. Jennifer and Abe go to the market. Daniel and Maxine are left to set the table. Maxine tells Daniel that he is buffer between her and Abe. She opens up to him about their relationship. She and Abe have agreed for right now to be good friends. Daniel is happy if Maxine is happy. Maxine hugs Daniel and tells him he is the best friend. She then asks him to tell her what is bothering him. He opens up vaguely, but gives no specifics. He remembers a similar situation when his late wife Rebecca died. The lunch ends and Abe and Maxine leave. Jennifer brings up Nicole again. Daniel pushes the issue aside once more, but tells her he is waiting for a phone call that should end his secrecy with her. Jennifer leaves him to do the dishes and tells him when he is ready, she will listen.
Meanwhile, Nicole is with Eric. She tells him Daniel doesn't want them to get married because he is in love with her. Nicole pushes to elope with Eric tonight.
