At the hospital, Daniel is working the New Year's Eve shift. He updates Father Eric on the condition of homeless man Father Eric is helping. The discussion turns to a mutual firend, Nicole. Father Eric comments on Nicole accepting that Daniel's heart is elsewhere.
As midnight closes in, Daniel calls Jennifer. He tells her he wishes they could have rung in the New Year together. When he looks up, Daniel is pleasantly surprised to see Jennifer is at the hospital bearing the dessert from their date. As the fireworks explode marking the New Year, Daniel tells Jennifer she is missing them. Jennifer remarks "no I'm not" and they begin the New Year with a kiss.
