    Daniel welcomes Kayla back to the hospital. She is glad to be back and hopes Jennifer will return as well. Kayla asks Daniel for his opinion on rehiring Jennifer. Daniel has mixed emotions about working so closely with Jennifer, but plays it cool and says it may be too soon for Jennifer to go back to work after Jack's death. 

   At the Horton house, Nicole drops numerous comments to Jennifer about her close relationship with Daniel. Nicole also daydreams of her and Daniel raising her son together. Later Daniel bumps into Jennifer in the square. They exchange pleasantries. Kayla interrupts and offers Jennifer a job at the hospital. Daniel abruptly leaves, commenting Jennifer should do what is best for her. Jennifer tells Kayla that Daniel has been distancing himself from her. When Daniel returns to the hospital, he overhears a hospital employee badmouthing Jennifer. He doesn't hesitate to step in and come to Jennifer's defense, curtly dressing down the employee Anne.
