After working the graveyard shift at the hospital, Daniel tries to reach Melanie. After several attempts he finally reaches her. He tells her he will stop by to see her and will bring her her favorite coffee drink. Before Daniel leaves he pays his condolences to Adrienne. Adrienne thanks him. She brings up the subject of Chad, offering her opinion that he is a good guy. Daniel arrives at Melanies. In his effort to see how Melanie is doing, he abruptly finds out she has been intimidated with people checking up on her. Daniel sees the engagement ring and he asks her what the hell she thinks she is doing. Both take their defensive positions. Melanie reasoning that this is right for her, Daniel reasoning it is knee jerk reaction to Nick getting out of prison. Melanie's words get to Daniel. He just wants her to be happy. He hugs her.
