At the hospital, Daniel learns that the clinical trial to stop the tremors in his hands has failed. He finds it hard to believe. Jennifer tries to console him, but he quickly departs to sort things through by himself. Maggie learns of the outcome and blasts Jennifer, telling that her it is her fault for pushing Daniel into this procedure.
Daniel is in his apartment. The lights are off and he is drinking. A knock comes at the door. He is surprised to learn it is Nicole. Nicole realizes that the procedure has failed and begins to bad mouth Jennifer. Daniel blasts Nicole. He will not have her speaking that way about Jennifer. He orders her to go. Jennifer also comes knocking at Daniel's door. He cannot stand for her to look at him with pity. He tells her to respect his wishes and stay away from him. Jennifer sadly leaves, crying as Daniel shuts the door.
